Power requirements for Nvidia 8600 Ultra / GT Tags: Graphics Cards Power Geforce Graphics Last response: March 2, 2007 7:23 PM in Graphics & Displays Share Vip68 March 1, 2007 12:14:55 PM Would anyone know how much power I would need for the Geforce 8600? I'm planning on the ff setup and I'm not sure if the 250w PSU can handle the load. Case: Shuttle SK22G2B V2 (250W Silent X) AM2 CPU: X2 4000+ 65w AM2 (Brisbane) RAM: 2 x 1G DDR2 800 Corsair XMS CL4 HDD: 2 x 7200rpm Sound Card: M-Audio 5.1 sound card Video Card: Geforce 8600 Ultra or R600 equivalent ODD: Lite-on 16x DVDRW I've looked all over for wattage claims on the 8600 but havent found any. Any help on this would be appreciated.. thanks. To be honest, you should be running off a 350 - at the least. That should give you a bit of headroom. neveremember March 1, 2007 6:29:54 PM i don't know about this video card, but some lesser cards require 400watt PSU. Amps are unknown. sirheck a b U Graphics card March 2, 2007 12:12:04 AM probably not alot. Vip68 March 2, 2007 10:16:23 AM Hmm, based on the picture on the reference board it doesn't have a power connector... while previous gen cards like the 7950.. even the 7900GS need external power. Maybe this newer gen card might have lesser power requirements than the high end 7 series ... (e.g. 6800 vs. 7600GT). mkaibear March 2, 2007 11:11:05 AM The Shuttle 250W PSUs are good, but not *that* good. I'd be dubious! mayouuu March 2, 2007 7:23:53 PM i would say not!, just hope a power draw of about a 7950GT, maybe more..... Can't find your answer ? Ask !
