That's a wow, but the bigger wow is that 1000 of the systems AMD showed with R600 and K10 will do the same thing.

Now that's incredible.

Sure it might be able to split atoms, I bet it still couldn't run Oblivion smoothly in the forest...
March 1, 2007 2:49:56 PM

when will it come up with the answer that everyone is waiting for...?

They should have gone with E4300's w/great cooling...overclocked 75-100%. They would have only needed 10,000 processors, and half the floor space. /severe sarcasm. 8)

The "good" CPU-interconnect will ......
Turn out more than 30000 processors will be needed

If you get a pet-aflop, do they give you a newspaper subscription for when you housebreak it?

What is a taco? Some kind of food?

Noting your location as Iraq, yes, it is a food. Its kind of like a cornmeal pancake, fried in oil and filled with some meat, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and any other thing that sounds tasty.

You think your grammar is good? Look this one.....

It was directed at the post title, but now that you mention it.... :p
March 2, 2007 4:24:21 PM

I think Coops07 got things confused and may not want to admit it. Your grammer is much better then what a lot of people use, Taco. No need to wonder about that.

March 2, 2007 4:34:13 PM

Ok, you just got things confused for a couple of us. Will accept that and leave it where it is.

and it is a spanish based food that has been Americanized
Dude! If you love 'em, then you should know they are TexMex (Texas-Mexico border area), not Spanish. And don't forget the guac and sour! (guacamole/sour cream for you non-surfer, non-SoCal dudes). 8)

Mexico was invaded by the Spaniards a long time ago and made a majority of it spanish based, and so the food and culture came from them into Mexico, while a lot of had changed, you can also say tacos can be indirectly thought of as Spanish based. And sour cream is good, very good, but guacomole is better on chips, but this is starting to get way off track, more than it usually does, so I suggest we stop before the mods yell at us

Or I get so hungry that I have to take a taco break. Was born in North Dakota, but raised in California and I had some neighbors from Mexico that made very good tacos, and burritos, and enchiladas. Forget it, I'm getting too hungry.

Not to get OT here, but I wonder if you could pick up that BlueGene cheap now that it's outdated?

The pic at the beginning of the article, says it's currently the world's fastest super computer.
March 2, 2007 5:59:36 PM

Yep, its on eBay now. Bidding starts at $0.01. I'm expecting that POS to sell for around $20, if that much.
March 2, 2007 6:04:18 PM

You did read the fine print where it said shipping would be a couple thousand dollars, right?

I doubt it can handle Linux. It'll put it at full load and then your house will burn down.
March 2, 2007 6:05:14 PM

What til u come to Canada.......we have french fries with gravy and cheese on top and call it Poutine......and Ketchup flavoured potato chips, and we put vinegar on our french fries. And we spell flavoured with a "u" in it, but I spell it usually here with no "u" so the Yanks don't get confused.....and that soft drink we call it "pop" not "soda", and yes we have pizza up here but no whale blubber toppings, and yes we have Daylight Savings Time but had to switch sooner so we would match the funny American switch because othewise we'd have different timezones along the same latitudes and wouldn't that be NUTS?!!!?

Was that a run-on sentence? 8O

Nevur said mah grammur wuz gud or nuthin cuz I'm a Can-eh-dian.

;)
March 2, 2007 6:07:13 PM

I do believe you mean longitudes, not latitudes. Good fer nuffin Canadians...

March 2, 2007 6:30:42 PM

I was wondering if anyone would pick up on the "latitudes" ;)  Congratz, you get a cookie!

Like I said, it's not gravy fries with cheese......it's called "Poutine". Pronouned "poo-teen". Let the French Canadian jokes begin now......lol. I'm not French Canadian btw.......

Ok. I lost the name among all the e-mails and various other threads I'm following at the moment.

Worst thread I've been following is the stock market prices. Don't know whether to buy or to hold on for new lows.

I really won't be satisfied till they get a yottaflop system, a sweet system like that has to sound cool too, like mega, giga, and tera before it. Lets just skip this petaflop and go straight to yottaflop.

March 2, 2007 7:05:05 PM

What, no cup holders?
March 2, 2007 7:17:36 PM

I heard you have to be a Jedi to use a yottaflop computer...and be wise in the ways of the Force 8)
