I just tried to extend the data partition on a W2KSP4 server using the
diskpart.exe utility in the 2k resource kit. Everything seamed to work fine
and in computer manager disk manager it shows that the partition was
extended to use all of the space available. But under properties of the disk
it shows the old size and I can not access the increased size. I Now there
was a problem with this utility before SP4
http://support.microsoft.com/defau [...] ct=win2000
but was supposed to be fixed. Does anyone know how to reverse this so I can
recover the lost disk space

Hello kww,

It sounds as though your server was pre-SP4 doesn't it? I'm wondering if
something did not complete with your server's SP4 update. Did you run winver
(from start/run type "winver" ) & verify the machine was in fact at SP4? Go
ahead and do that, and post the results.

I will be emailing you the hotfix relevant to this issue as well as a tool
that should help you complete the process of extending that partition.
PLEASE FIRST APPLY THE HOTFIX before using this tool (you may also want to
reapply SP4 to this machine).

Best Regards,
