delete my hard drive tracks

hiya, aI'm going to give away my computer.
What do I do- format / fdisk / what else
to the point where all my tracks have been eliminated?

You can find on most shareware sites, apps for 'security wipe' of a hd.
Simply delete data, uninstall apps, run a security wipe and then use win
install disk to delete partitions.
Or to do it properly/finally destroy hd, but then again would any one be
really interested in yr data?
