I am Trying to install windows xp sp2 on my new hdd, just got it this evening. When booting the xp setup for install, the installer is giving me an error saying that it can't find my new hard disk.

Its telling me to check my power connections. Unistalled and reinstalled both my power connection and sata data cable for several time. Also cleaned the motherboards sata connection from dust. Also connected the sata power cable on a different 12v rail. but still the arror comes up.

same thing also happens when i press F6 while setup is booting.

My new WD is to replace my previous Seagate SATA disk which was not raided so i didn't define an array.

hardware:

Motherboard: asus A7N8X-E

prevoius sata hdd: Seagate st3250824as (on RMA)

new sata hdd: Western Digital wd2500ks ( my new WD came without jumper and without wd secure connect cable) link to manual - user guide

sata drivers: Downloaded drivers

Started to install my Xp from the section "Installing the RAID Drivers"

also tried to start my xp install without pressing F6

by the way i did't change any bios settings just the booting order.

So what u guys think i'm doing wrong? so do u think that i should now have to raid 0 my hdd to get it to work ? is it a bios setting even though i only changed my boot order?

well i think that thats all the info u need.

thanks
!
