setup 2000, encounter invalid partition table

The "invalid partition table" message comes from your Master Boot Record.
Try recreating it, either by using the FIXMBR command from the recovery
console, or using FDISK /MBR from a DOS/Win9x startup disk, or using Linux
or third party tools.

Also ensure that the partition you installed to is primary and set as
active (bootable).
