Is it possible to flash the bios of an 8800gts to make it read as though it was a gtx? (NvFlas5.xx or BIOSeditor) :?
Any help would be great, as I'm might order two of the 8800gts(640) today.

Thanks

Probably, but it won't make any difference to the speed. The memory controller will still have a lower bus width, the card will still have less memory, and the chip will still have less stream processors...

Make it faster.

On other hand probably it wont work, risk of bios errors, something go wrong, etc. NOT Recommended. Why risk $300 video card.

You could flash the gpu and memory to 8800GTX speeds, but it would only be an overclocked 8800GTS and not match the performance of the 8800GTX. If you plan on spending $800 on two GTS cards why not just buy one GTX and wait a few months to buy a second one. There really is no reason you would need to SLI either card right now since both cards can play almost every game at max settings.

You cannot do it; the extra stream processors are laser cut. Just get a single 8800GTX as it can play everything on the max with antialiasing including Oblivion.

You can't flash an 8800 GTS to GTX. At least, I've never heard of a successful flash.

The memory bus is physically different, I can't imagine a GTX bios working on a GTS.

Yeah but even if the memory bus was the same, Nvidia always laser cuts disabled shaders.

What i mean is that you cant get anything more from a GTS.You just OC it.You would never be able to transform it to a GTX.
