Need explaination of this stepping thing

Im not sure what the stepping is/does. Is it just denoting the latest version of the CPU or something?

I am going to buy a E4300 for OC'ing and need to know what I need to know. Is there a certain stepping I want, and can you tell what stepping the chip is by looking at the box?

refers to L2 stepping on the E4300 I just found.

If the E4300's now have a L2 revision of stepping, is it possible to tell from the box which stepping the chip inside is?

ok thanks Jack. I will be gettingthis real soon so even if they do another revision I doubt the old stock will clear out in time for me to get one.

Do you know when the E6320's are going to be available?
