Thanks for all the help guys. I got it working now. I just finished installing windows xp pro on to it, but it won't let me change from the lowest resolution and I can't connect to the internet. When i plugged in the ethernet, instead of it lighting up green it lights up red where it connects. Does that make sense to you, thats the best way I can explain it. I think the mobo came with a cd that had drivers on it but I misplaced it and can't find it. Can anyone give me advice?
With all due respect, how do you KNOW you "got it working now"? Did you run the WD disk diagnostics to verify that your hard drive is working correctly, or did you use a new hard drive instead?
As for your ethernet issue, some use red LEDs, some use green LEDs, some use yellow LEDs; my guess is that the LED is just lighting up to verify that the physical link (cable) is properly connected. The reason you can't use the ethernet port (or some other hardware functions) is that you haven't yet installed the various drivers for your MB hardware.
Your MB manufacturer's website should have the various drivers available for download. Be sure to download only the correct drivers for your MB, and be sure to install them in the correct order. Your MB manual (also available for download from the maker's web site if you've lost your copy) should have instructions on how to go about installing the drivers. If you can't figure out the correct order from the manual, find out the correct order (e.g. from the MB maker's tech support) before installing them.
Since you seem to be in a bit over your head here, you might also try getting help from a friend who knows this stuff or hiring someone for an hour or two to help you setup the system properly.
PS - With a fairly high-end video card such as yours, buying a bottom-end PS like the CompUSA one is often a false economy. You should consider getting a decent-quality PS for $75 or so on sale.
