Just got a Sony XBR with built-in digital tuner.I live in a town
whose cable system carries *none* of the networks in HD and isn't
likely to for some time.I'm a football fan.

I live about 30 miles north of Hartford,CT...in hilly country.
The Hartford CBS affiliate (WFSB) is installing a new digital
transmitter and tower (on a "mountain" ) about 20 miles from me.
They tell me that with its power (I think they said 1 million
watts or killowatts),I should have *no* trouble picking up
their signal, particularly given that I can often (but not always)
pick up the Hartford NBC affiliate whose signal isn't nearly as
powerful (so says WFSB).

My question, with my antenna (Radio Shack indoor 15-1880),what are
the cances of me getting this signal? For the record,an outdoor
antenna isn't an option for me.

Thanks!

Try a zenith silver sensor (sears $39) and aim it at the location. Can
you at least do an attic mount ? If so then buy something bigger and
place it in your attic....

If your hard core I would at least buy extra coax and a silver sensor
and on game day stick it out the window to get the game then put it back
when your done. Footbal in hd is great, 16:9 field is wonderful. The
colors are rich and the display is crisp.

good luck.

That would be nice if DTV gave your three free HD IRDs. What do they
cost $300 each? I don't know where he lives, but I also live 30 miles
north of Hartford and Comcast is the major cable outfit here in
Springfield, MA. I don't know if he's in the area serviced by Charter
Cable. Sounds like he has to at least try the OTA route.
