Hi everyone!

I am quite concerned withe the dramatic size and power increase in the graphics cards these past years. A few months ago, I purchased a OCZ GameXtreme 700W psu thinking I would be somewhat futureproof. I've waited through the 8800s for the r600s and now I am confused whether my psu will be able to handle a r600.

I hear that there's a 6pin and a 8 pin power connectors on the r600. I have 2 6pins. Does that mean I need to plug both into the 8 pin with an adaptor and use a molex adapter for the 6pin or do i plug one into the 6pin and the other into the 8pin or do i do that and use an additional adaptor to combine a 6pin and a molex for the 8pin.

And when will there be 16pins?

Sorry for the confusing paragraph.
Thanks for reading! :D

The latest news/rumors have the r600 running 240-300w at full load.

As for the pins, last I heard was the retail would come with 1 6 pin + 1 8 pin connector. The card could be run safely using 2 6pins, but in doing so prevents you from using ati overdrive utilities. Only people using the 6+ 8 pin setup can use overdrive.

Again these are only rumors even if they come from reliable sites. the cards been pushed back so many times, it's hard to tell what info is correct, what is wrong and what might have been correct but has since been changed.

I don't think anyone will know for sure till the cards show up in peoples hands.

Your psu is more than adequit for running the 8800 or R600 series. If 8pin connectors are needed then you'll probably get and adapter or two with the card.Goodluck.
