I want to be pretty prepared, I hope they release the boards sooner than the cpu, That way i could mount the board and throw my current cpuin there, and when the chip is released just swap out my current cpu, and put in a bad ass am2+ CPU (HOPEFULLY A QUAD, BUT PROBABLY A DUAL CORE)

Am2+ boards should be out within 1-2 quarters. There shouldn't be much, if any benefit over the existing am2 boards on the market now, like the one you currently own.

erm,vern...I think he ment that they wont have any benifit over the am2 board, if one is useing an am2 cpu...those features you list will only be used, if the cpu is an am2+ cpu, of which none are currently out...

Would be nice if they started dropping hints aboutwhat the pricing for the duals and qquads will be. I remember the am2 pricing structure was released at least two months early, and had been speculated on even earlier.

Indeed, he meant the AM2+ motherboards rather than AM2+ CPUs (K10).

I plan on keeping my board for a long while just cuz its so damn expensive and cool looking

Seriously though, just keep your current board, put a barcalona in, and then later buy an AM2+ board or AM3 whichever works and put the barc in that.

I plan on doing that when i need PCIe 2

Mine's not that expensive but I wouldn't be able to buy a decent new one anyhow. Too much spending lately.

Seriously guys, we don't even have a benchmark out for the cpu and you guys wanna talk about mobo prices for it already...a bit early methinks.

Some one please correct me if I am wrong but, I thought the AM2 CPUs are not backward compatible with the AM2+ MoBo, only vis versa?

AM2 socket supports: AM2 and AM2+ processors.
AM2+ socket supports: AM2, AM2+ and AM3 processors (all, essentially).
AM3 socket supports: AM2+ and AM3 processors.
