Reinstalled Windows 2000 on a Dell Dimension PC because of
problems--at the end on the install it keeps asking for
the CD with MSRedist?? Any help on this one?

I believe you may be using an OEM version of Windows 2000 that potentially
shipped with your dell PC the file you are refering to is a file that
belongs to Norton AV. The file may be on your OEM CD, but you will have to
search for it.

a reference I found in alternate locations suggests the following:
browse the Norton Antivirus CD, the file missing is in the Support\MSREDIST
directory.

Another option would be to uninstall and reinstall Norton. If you are
unable to remove norton by using the add/remove feature then it may be
neccessary to collaborate with Symantec and determine the best method for
uninstalling the software. Good Luck and hope this helps.
