I recently bought a Samsung 26" HDTV monitor (TXN2668WHF) and have a
question... when watching a DVD on a Toshiba SD-2800 with the composite
output, I notice two 3" faint purple vertical bands on the screen when the
movie scene is dark, and sometimes a faint white vertical line in the
middle. If I switch to the yellow video cable, I get vertical snowy white
bands. I don't seem to notice this when watching cable TV except the faint
white line in the middle sometimes. I don't have another DVD player to try
so I was curious if there's an easy way I can tell if the DVD player is the
problem or the composite inputs on the HDTV.

save us all time and trouble: learn the proper use of the terms component
and composite and which are which.

Rob you may or may not have a TV problem....
If you have a HDTV.... you should be using an S-Video
cable at worst... a component (3 wires) at Best...
Use a composite (coax) Cable only for a simple test...
Not DVD viewing...
Make sure there are No unshielded speakers within 15"
of the TV screen. Magnets are bad for TV...
Finally as a Sony fan.. I wish you had bought a
Sony 30HS420 HDTV....
