Greetings,

I'm about to start a new SFF build centered around an E6600 and an EVGA 8800 GTS KO. I'm having some difficulty deciding on a monitor. I feel like I've been out of the loop for some time. I would like to go widescreen for the first time, but am not sure if they are good for gaming? I'm also curious what monitor would go best with the 8800GTS. I'm not looking for super max resolutions, but something pretty close would be nice!

Thanks for the help.

I just finished my first build. I have an e6600 and a superclocked 8800gts 640mb. I'm playing Oblivion right now on the dell e228wfp at the 1680x1050 native res without any hiccups at all (under vista too). HDR enabled and normal to high detail settings. Beautiful monitor, very good price (~$300) but not the best you can do if you search around, but its got HDCP and a 3-year warranty.

(P.S. I can't force AA with HDR enabled under vista yet (I don't believe) so i cant comment on how they run together with oblivion)

Thanks for the reply!

I'm now deciding bewteen an NEC Display Solutions 20WMGX2 20.1" or a DELL 2007WFP 20.1". The NEC is about $150.00 more, but I've read some good reviews. Can anyone reccomend either?

Thanks again.

When I buy mine, I will have to get the Dell 2705FPW, but for now I have an old HiSX1800XT and a 2505FPW... but one day! An I know my 3.2GHz C2D is revving for a card that can play rough.

Go to the following site to find out about games that supports widescreen monitors. Also provides hacks for some games that do not officially support widescreens.

Here's a list of monitors that should be good for gaming:

Acer AL2216Wbd Black 22" 5ms

ViewSonic Graphic Series VG2230wm Black 22" 5ms

SAMSUNG 225BW Black 22" 5 ms

Personally, I'm looking at the BenQ FP241W Black 24" 16ms (6ms GTG) LCD

Thanks for all the helpful replies! I decided to splurge for once and purchased the NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2 20.1-inch widescreen LCD Display. All the others suggested are great monitors, but the NEC has gotten insanely awesome reviews. The black are really deep and the colors very vibrant! I'm very anxious to try it out.

Thanks!
