Here we are. All the prices came from www.directcanada.com. I am selling him my x1950pro, which I just bought, but since the performance increase, I've wanted more! So I'm getting an 8800gts 320MB. So videocard isn't going to change. Price is an issue, and I would like to bring it down as much as possible without losing to much performance. I also want him to have the capacity to upgrade to a more powerful videocard in the future, so I don't want to cut the power supply to anything cheaper then what is there, unless there is something better for cheaper? He wants modular, but that comes second to price and performance. My brother is also a brand fanboy, he must have an Asus board. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated!
Oh ya, right now it comes up to ~960$ with taxes + shipping. So budget is obviously anything lower then that. And he is a gamer, his favorite game being the system hog - Supreme Commander.
EDIT: He will be overclocking, and his goal is 9x333. He wont be aiming for an amazing overclock.
Pretty awesome build, thats probably the best and cheapest you can get. I also recently built a new system (specs in sig), but mine cost $1500 w/o taxes + shipping so you are getting that for a very good price.
Edit: I forgot to mention that I also bought a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Thats why it was $1500 CAD.
I think you'll have a hard time lowering the price on that (w/o moving to the US).
I figured as much.

Again, not suprised. I don't think it's possible to take down the price without sacraficing to much performance, like losing 2gb of ram, buying a lesser proc, etc..

Your rig in your sig PWNZXD
Hehe, thanks dude. I can't wait until I get the rest of my parts put togethor. That thing will be a beast for the cost. Although I can't decide on the monitor, either the 206bw or 226bw, the only difference is 22" vs 20", and 100$.... hmm
