Hi
Im just about to buy a XFX 8800GTS but not sure what memory size,
i want to go the 320MB because of the price dif, but unsure on its performence.
Like how much performence will i be loseing with half the memory?
and will this be a problem later down the track with new DX10 games?

i think that it depends on what resolutions you are going to play at. I just bought a 8800gts 640mb for that reason. Also with the current games the 320mb will be fine but I think that we both can agree that when the dx10 line-up comes out then the more mb will be better.

I recently purchased the 8800 gts 320 and im very pleased. It handles everything at high settings but I play at 1280 x 1024 so it just depends on what your res is. Another thing to keep in mind is that later on after prices drop you could put another one in and sli them.

o another thing I do have problems with the expansion to FEAR I have to turn some of the settings down but with the original FEAR it has no problems.

If i go SLI with 2 320MB cards will that make it 640MB?

Im about to buy the GTS 640 mb Evga version, leaving behind my 2.5 year old X800pro 256...Its been nice but i think the 640mb with a dual core Athlon 64 X2 5600 will be a nice balance, for the money.

Check out the review. This should give you a good idea of the performance ability of the 320MB.

I have the eVGA 8800GTS 320MB and it rocks! I have play only a few games on it like Halo and Battlefield. Smooth and fast action. No jerk or hesitation. GPU run cool to the touch. :D

Go for a EVGA 320 mb card .

Life time warranty

step up program

The 320 mb rocks at all resolutions except the Extreme ones. The Evga superclocked is where it is. :D

i got the 640 mb evga and it is the shiznit. i play at 1280 1024. i think the extra memory will come in handy with next gen games. my friend has the same card as me 320 version and my card beats him in oblivion and fear expansion.

its been said, anything over 1650 x 1050 go with 640mb gts or gtx....if you have that resolution or less stick with 320 mb gts or equal card for the money.

I have 1920 x 1200 Res and have Evga 640 mb superclocked GTS it runs everything perfect max settings. Bf2142,CnC3, FEAR

i was just like you man confused between 320 Mb or 640Mb. I went for EVGA superclocked 8800 gts 320 MB. they have stepup program for 90 days and life time warranty. so if feel i need 640 MB i will just upgrade to 640mb card but just paying the diffrence.
