8800 GTS/GTX 320/640/768 [any benchmark you ever needed]

Thought I'd do a little community service [bored and out of beer ] as many people are a bit confused about how memory effects performance using certain resolutions and games among the 8800 line. This should give you a grand idea about which current card is right for you.

We know that larger memory sizes offer better performance with higher resolutions and dense graphical games - the question is, do you need it? You be the judge.

Nice Compilation we might have to cut off your beer supply so we can get more of this sorta thing :p

But yeah unless your running a resolution>1280x1024 then the 320mb should suffice. Once you get higher reso's with high textures and lot's of AA then more memory is a must.

IMO getting an Oc'd 320mb would be better off than getting a stock 640mb 8800gts for a 19" monitor.

More memory doesn't really matter that much well in my case it doesn't my lcd only supports 1280x1024.... 8)
Foxconn 320mb Overclocked here I come ..

No more of this from me. Too much finger tapping, wrecks my buzz :p

*slurp... burp*

The XFX XXX 320 FTW imo. 10 to 12 percent above the competition at some points. Even woops the reference nV 640 at high resolutions more than once.

So I just bought that Foxconn 8800GTS 640mb OC 575/1800, should that be good for my Acer 22" Widescreen 1600 x 1000 for awhile?
March 14, 2007 5:30:09 PM

If I play at 1680x1050 widescreen, then the 320 MB superclock should be really good right?
March 14, 2007 7:00:48 PM

good post.

Kinda makes me wish I would have gotten the x1950xt instead of the Pro. I didn't realize the difference was that noticeable. (The had an open box xt for 5 bucks more then my pro)
