I instaled new gainward 8800 GTS on my DQ6 mobo and I noticed that my system temperature jumped for 10 celsius. Temperature now is around 46 celsius and before it was round 36. Nothing is OC, all stock settings. My previus GPU was an NVIDIA 7600 GT. Does some1 else have similar problem?

I have had a 'similar' experience with my system. I have a DQ6 (rev 1.0) with an ATI 1950 xtx.

The ambient heat from the graphics card was heating up the surrounding NB and SB heatsinks, hence higher temps.

The 8800 (luvverly card) would produce a lot of heat. Most likely more heat than your previous card, hence higher NB temps.

I spoke to GigaByte about my NB temps (45C idle - 50C under load) and they assured me that these temps were "no where near" to being too hot.

I personally prefer a cooler system, so I have since taken steps to cool & quieten it.

Thank You for reply, I tought that I am the only 1 with this problem.
I haven't noticed any stability issues with this NB temperature so I assume that the temperature is normal. Not even with e6600 oc'd to 3.2Ghz. Thx again.

The temp reported for the system, motherboard, or Northbridge usually comes from a sensor that's very close to the Northbridge chip, as this is usually the hottest part of the board.

So yes joex444 you're quite right, it is the same as system temp. It's just terminology in this case.

Slovenac, mid 40's should be fine. Mine's run at that for 4 months, no problems. It runs cooler now, but that's another story.
