monitor problem

i have installed the game called god father. when i clicked god father.exe to run the game , i saw black screen. i know my monitor doesnt support resolutions above 1024:768. i guess the game started above 1024:768 . i installed the last drivers for my graphic card.but i couldnt manage to play the game.is it possible to change resolution without running the game.how can i solve this problem?i want to play it..... thanks for any answers

yes.my graphic card is ati 1650xt.and i am sure the problem is my monitor.not the graphic card , cpu , or ram...
