I had a 2004 "P" model with integrated tuner in the shop and the tuner
worked well (4th generation). Much better than my new 2003 model (third
generation tuner). The difference between the two generations can be noted
because the newer model supports QAM on cable while the older does not.
Adaptive equalization and fast processors are a must in these new tuners.
An intermittant bad connection from the antenna connector can cause dropouts
as the signal level changes faster than the tuner can adapt to it. IF you
have multipath and the levels are close together the tuner needs time to
determine that it's not locked to the correct signal. Signal fade (if it's
quick) can cause the same problem in older tuners.

I have the 30" version (TXP3071WH) and I am happy with it. The only problem I
have noted is that the TV is slow to respond to the remote control when one is
on a DTV channel that is weak and not locked. Apparently, Samsung "polls" for
remote control buttons instead of using an interrupt method.
