Cannot connect laptop to server

I suggest you start with the basic things such as
pinging between the two machines, and checking
***all*** firewall settings. When pinging, run your
tests with IP addresses and also with NetBIOS names.

1. Turn off your MS firewall during testing.
2. Turn off your Trend Internet Security or Norton Internet Security
firewall during testing.
3. Turn off any other firewall during testing.
4. Log on to the laptop with a local account/password that is the same as
some domain account/password.
5. Start a Command Prompt on the laptop.
6. Type this command: net use x: \\YourServer\SomeShare. What do you get?
7. Disconnect all mapped drives.
8. Instead of using some wizard, make the laptop join the domain via the
Control Panel. What do you get?
