Hi,

After reading through the Core 2 overclocking guide and this forum for several weeks now, I finally built my new system and overclocked to acceptable temps and volts (at least I hope so  ).

I ran Orthos for 2 hours without any error's :p and tried to run MemTest but I keep booting into windows even when I would set the BIOS to boot from CD (not sure why) :? .

My temps are idel @ 38c and full-load @ 48-52c (room 72f) while running Orthos. This is a three day old system that I did use AS5 on, from what I have read my temps should drop about another 5 degrees after around 200 hours of use, correct?

System Components:

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel G965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard (BIOS 9)

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor

OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI ATX12V 600W Power Supply

ZALMAN CNPS9500 LED 92mm 2 Ball Cooling Fan with Heatsink

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

My FSB is set to 333 with 1:1 memory but for some reason it show's the Core Speed @ 2988, not sure why.

BIOS adjustments I made:

1.Disabled C.I.A.2
2.Set PCI Express (PCIe) frequency @100Mhz
3.Disabled Limit CPUID Max to 3
4.Disabled EIST
5.Disabled Virtualization Technology
6.Disable No-Execute Memory Protect
7.Disabled HDD SMART
8.Disabled Limit CPU Max to 3
9.Disabled CPU Enhanced Halt
10.Disabled CPU Thermal Monitor
11.CPU Clock 9x
12.CPU Host Frequency 333
13.System Memory Multipler 2.0
14.DDR2 OverVoltage Control +1
15.PCI-E Overvoltage Control +1
16.FSB OverVoltage Control +3
17.MCH OverVoltage Control +3
18.Set Memory to 4, 4, 4, 12
19.Vcore 1.36

Please look over my voltages and temps below and give any feedback or suggestions you may have.

im not an expert and i havent used the e6600 only the e4300 but the FSb and mch voltage seems alittle crazy no? Have u tried without increasing the mch and fsb voltage that much? i mean i got 3.0 ghz with my 4300 without increasing voltage on the cpu + 1 on everything else.

Thanks for the reply...

I lowered both the FSB OverVoltage Control & MCH OverVoltage Control to +1 and running Orthos again now. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Now, after Orthos runs for 2 hours (hopefully stable), I should try to lower my Vcore one step at a time then run Orthos again each time for two hours until I reach the lowest possible Vcore... correct?

I've checked over your settings and temps, and noted the Delta (Idle to Load) is minimal, but proportional between Tcase and Tjunction. Orthos is the second choice for temp testing, as it simulates only 88% Load and ~ 5c cooler compared with TAT 100% Load. Taking this into consideration, your temps are still untypically cool. If you re-test using TAT, then I'll be glad to check your results again, and give you an answer.

Hope this helps,
