I have a Zektor HDS4 switchbox which is a component video switchbox.
The odd problem is I can use my remote for a JVC VCR (on cable box
mode as a cable box) and switch component inputs whether I'm standing
in front of the box or in another room (using the remote through a
Powermid Remote Extender system). It works fine both ways. Yet I
have programmed my 688 to use this switchbox when switching between
HD-TIVO and D-VHS (components 1 and 2 in) and it works fine if I'm
standing in front of the switchbox but won't work if I'm using it in
another room through the remote extender system. I have tried
changing codes, learning the codes off of the JVC remote, etc. with no
luck. I know it's not purely a Harmony issue since it semes to only
be a problem when I deal with the Remote Extender but as well I don't
know if it's that the Remote Extender somehow modifies the codes (but
only through the Harmony, not the VCR remote obviously) or what's
going on. It's a annoying issue I have had no luck with at all. Any
ideas what's causing this? I have thought about changing to another
switchbox but I like the Zektor so much and want to stay with it and
someday in the future hope to get a HDMI switchbox from them.
