just from personal experience, the apevia (aspire) brand seems kinda cheaply built... ive built 2 machines with them, and they just wernt what i would call solidly built... my newest machine i decided to stick with a major brand name, went with the antec p180... and wow, what a difference in quality... no missing parts, no dents, no screws that didnt quite line up... and its built like a tank

i would suggest one of these 2:

Please realize that I'm on a budget, and the afore mentioned unit has a 500w psu. Sorry, I guess I could have mentioned that . In my budget I guess I can live with somethings on it being less that savory.

Thoughts?

ok well, what is your budget and what are the other components you are wanting to get? i can promise you that the 500w PS in that case will not be sufficient to run SLI and probably wont work very will with an 8800 video card

No no sli or 8800.

c2d e6300/thermaltake cpu fan/gigabyte ga-965p-ds3/2 gb patriot mem/ 7600gs (or there abouts)/dvd-rw/250gb caviar sata/cheap sound card/XP media center/microsoft wireless keyboard-mouse.

Nothin too serious I guess, but don't want to under power it either.

Thanks!

well me not liking the aspire brand is a personal choice... i have used their lower end one, so perhaps that makes a difference... as for lower cost... thermaltake has some good looking ones...

cases are mostly a personal choice, though ease of use will definately play a factor in it... i say, read up on the case you are looking at, read some reviews on google, and see what other owners have to say about it

Dang that blue one about blinded me! Never seen one like that before! Yeah I looked at those ones you listed and the reviews seem about the same and it's hard to please everyone, especially on a budget.

Thanks for your help...it is much appreciated!

I'd go out and get a really solid power supply, which will run at least a hundred bucks. Look at this excellent deal:

Then spend the rest of the budget on a cheap case to get you by till the budget allows an upgrade. There are many cases available for under 30 bucks. Get a really ugly one and then you'll be sure to quickly find the money to replace it. Drive over the junk one in your car and have a ball destroying the ugly pile of crap. This way, you'll not have to endure losing your CPU or GPU to a junk power supply.

The psu that tool_462 recomended is an awesome unit, perfect for our system.

For the case i would get this, its a great budget Lian-Li.

I can second that case recommendation. I've built one of them up and it's the usual, excellent LLi quality. If I remember right, it doesn't have the removable mobo tray but you can jump up something like $15 or $20 and get basically the same case with the pullout tray if it's worth it to you.
