I am building a core 2 setup soon and just want to know if the 320Mb 8800 GTS is plenty of videocard for some gaming such as guild wars and crysis on my widescreen monitor which runs at a native 1440x900 resolution. This will be the only resolution I will be running at for awhile and would like a strong card but thats sensible on the wallet. :?

I dont know about that res but I game at 1280 x 1024 and I dont have any problems except with the expansion to FEAR and even then I just have to bump the settings down a bit.

Hope this helps

Can you really not play the FEAR expansion on full settings? What is your computer setup with the 8800gts?

Also, did they change the graphics with the expansion? cause I can play FEAR original on full with my 1900XTX (could it be because mine is 512MB?)

At 1440x900 you wont be stressing the GTS-320 under current game designs, however Crysis is an unknown.

I would say your resolution is perfect for the GTS-320 which IMO has a sweet spot below 1920x1200, 14x9 should be perfect and offer you very little difference from the 640MB version even with AA enabled.

no I cant and I dont understand it. The Graphics are the same and I can play the original at full settings. I thought something was wrong but I dont have any problems with any other game so Im thinking it maybe a driver issue or something but I havent realy checked into it

My System Specs

EVGA nForce 680i

Intel C2d 6300 @3.0GHz

Corsair 512 X 2 (800MHz)

PSU Toughpower 700w

Can I ask why you would pay all the money for a 8800 and use it on a system with only 1GB of memory?

I know you are talking about the expansion... but I just used the system benchmark on the normal FEAR with all settings manually maxed out (to ensure nothing was skipped) at 1680x1050 and only had 1% FPS below 25 (min was 24)

Because when I bought the card I already had the ram and I planned on buying more. Which I guess I should have said that as of yesterday I ordered 2 more sticks of 512 which will give me 2GB. And Even with just 1 gig I havent had any problems with any of my games except the expansion 2 FEAR
