Mmk right sub-forum this time.

Yeah sorry all another 'rate my build' thread but I'd appreciate some more opinions. Will be getting this box this month. A PC is a big investment to me so proper planning and good decisions is important hence asking your opinions.

This machine will be sitting at the end of my bed and needs to be quiet (GF complains ), have no bright lights, and be aesthetically pleasing. I will be selling my current machine as a complete tower with my leftover parts. This build is being made with new games Crysis, UT3, C&C 3 ind mind as well as BF2/2142 which I currently mostly play.

Lian Li PC-7B+
2x Noctua NF-S12-1200 120mm fan's (47cfm, 17dba)
C2D E4300
Gigabyte GA-965p-DS3 Pro Revision 3.3
Crucial Ballistix 3-3-3 PC2-5300 (667) 2x1gb
XpertVision GF 7600GT 256mb
Seagate 7200.10 400gb

Ok here's some of my reasoning.
The Case, Cheap Well made, and Elegant. No Windows or bright lights = Good. All Alluminium
The fans, these will replace the two 120mm fans that come with the case. Getting them for silence + performance, and a little bit of prestige
The CPU, Cheapest C2D out and overclocks easily to ~3, I have a CNPS9500 which I will be using on this.
The Mobo, Cheap and overclocks well.
The Ram, These sticks have the MICRON D9 IC's and the 800mhz versions done very well in Tom's recent review. I only need 667 as I won't be going beyond the 333mhz FSB needed for ~3ghz on E4300.
The GFX, I plan on a good ~AUS$500 DX10 card (what the 320mb GTS's are worth atm) but will wait till R600 and G80 revisions come out as well as the games that I wan’t to play. The 7600GT will be a slight improvement on what I have atm which is playable and I'm happy to get by on until the upgrade. Cheap card to. Will sell after new card is in my box.
The HDD, I have a 74gb raptor and 250g Caviar SE atm, I plan to put the raptor and new 400gb in this new box and leave the caviar in my old one so I can sell it as a whole system.

I already have a spare Thermaltake 430w PSU which should power all this for the mean time. When I decide on the replacement for the 7600gt I will buy a suitable PSU then.

I've put a fair bit of thought and research into this set up but any thought’s would be appreciated, I’m expecting someone will have something to say about the mobo and ram so go for it I’m all eyes.

Thanks,

It's a nice system.
Ram is enough.
About the mobo thing: time will tell when you have that cpu at 3Ghz. We never know...

There is something on the air about upcoming games. The 320Mb on the GTS doesn't seem to handle all the textures needed to games at hi-res, so I believe the upcoming titles would like to have more vram, like the 640Mb version. But wait for the games' benches till you make a decision.

I only have a 19" LCD so high resolutions aren't an issue, I think I'd be ok with lower VRAM but your right, Game Benches are where it's at just need to play the waiting game :(

I don't even say to wait for crysis, but at least for a similar DX10 game bench just to have an idea of what will be the next games.

Does anyone know if the S3 will support 2.2v RAM volatage? The ballistix are rated at 3-3-3-12 DDR2-667 but only at 2.2v...

Edited the DS3 Pro in there rather than the S3 for quality purposes. I figured if I'm going to be getting high quality parts for everything else then I prob shouldn't flake out on the all important motherboard...
