Just wondering if you have see the same 169.X.X.X problem I've been seeing for the last week or so. Seems that if users have automatic updates enabled and download IE7. There firewall is blocking the install and thus causing the firewall to shut down the modem and assign a 169.X.X.X. The only way I've been able to solve it is to turn off the firewall and have them renew the IP through ipconfig. Ounce that is done if I have them open IE then they are able to complete the registration and then turn the firewall back on. Just wondering if you have seen this problem and how you are correcting it.
I haven't experienced that problem. I had other issues with IE7, though. In my opinion, IE7 has far too many problems for it to have been foisted off on the unwary via the automatic update process.
I had to manually hack the registry to get it past the first-time setup page and to keep it from crashing upon exit.
And it still occasionally crashes for no apparent reason.
Yep I know what you mean about the problems. I used it for about a week and found so many connection problems I opt out and went to Firefox. Several of my customers have been having big problems so I'm now refering them to MicroSoft just to get even with the release of a not so great product. If this speaks well of Microsoft then I hate to think what kind of problems we will be facing wtih the release of Vista in the coming months.
Weird.. Haven't seen this problem and I've pushed out over 300 installs of IE7 within a week after it going official. I have yet to receive a single complaint.

Riser, have you come up against that blue setup screen yet? Blue screen and you can't go anywhere else or close. Only way out was to Cnrl+Alt+Del and then stop IE. I then refered to Microsoft as we don't troubleshoot third party software. Looking for any recomendations you may have on this problem.

GuyI've kept IE7 on one of my computers as a test case. I have blocked the IE7 update in my other computers and my client's computers. Bascially, I don't have time to help MS with their beta trials.
So, my recommendation? Revert to IE6 and block the auto update for IE7.
