my question is what is an ideal speed over the network for 100mbit

My setup is the linksys 4 port 100/10 router
My server is nforce mobo i think with onboard raid and i have 2 120gb western dig 8mb se's in raid 0, now when i transfer a file over the network i get around 8,000kb-9,000 kb depending if the drive is defragged etc, also i have the intel 1000/100/100 nic on it with a cat5 e cable going directly to the switch, is this normal transfer speeds? I havent been to a lan in awhile, but ones i used to goto i think either had 10 or 100 baset for their network but ran sun raid arrays systems, and I remember it being alot faster, but even then its over the network, it seemed alot faster transfers, Now before i had this server with raid i had an older one with just 40gbs on there and did around 5,000-6,000 kb, does this seem normal to everyone or should it just be faster? also the drive im downloading to is just a 40gb ibm 7200 rpm on my gaming computer, Do these transfer speeds seem normal? I would think it would be alot faster, if I have a small lan party at my house and have 2-3 ppl on the ftp everyone dies down to about 2,000-3,000 kb a sec, I would think it would be alot faster then that, wheres the bottle neck? only thing i can think of, is it being onboard raid, but im not sure

you're transfer speed is good considering you're going through that 4 port linksys switch. It would be higher if you were able to avoid that linksys switch. I have 5 of them and they dramatically reduce network capabilities when I have to use them. I thought they were nice switches, but when it comes to transferring files they're not worth it.
