I have read that the BH6 can handle 768mb of memory (3-256k chips). I have removed my 3-128k chips and installed 3-256k chips but my system only recognizes 384k.
My Bios is V4.51pg, When checking for Bios upgrades everything points to ver SS as the most current for this MB, I am confused. When I boot the system it shows V4.51pg and no reference to Ver SS. Am I looking in the wrong place for the current Bios. Could it be the Bios or the MB revision number that is causing the limitation.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you

Oh wow. The memories. My only advice would be verify your memory with the compatibility list in the manual.

The actual bios version will be at the bottom of the screen. Hit pause/break when the first screen comes up and write it down.

Here's the manual.

I had the same problem years ago on a different board. I had to go into the bios and turn off "shadow bios memory" or something to that effect in order to get it to recognize all the memory.

Thanks for the timely responses.

I rebooted the system and the bios info shown at the bottom of the screen follows:

3/1/1999 i440BX-W83977-2A69KA1EC-KG

By deciphering this it looks as if my Bios is version KG, if this is correct maybe I have to update to version SS but, Nowhere can I find any reference in these bios upgrades on memory.

I have checked and double checked the memory and it is correct. I contacted Kingston and they verified that it was also the correct memory for this system. Seems strange that the system recognizes only half of each 256 chip. (Total 384 rather than 768)

I went into the bios and nowhere can I find any reference to "shadow Bios Memory". It may be there but listed differently.

It seems you're not alone with this problem.

The only things I can glean from this is that the early version of this board may have this problem; and high density ram have this problem; and that updating to the latest bios doesn't fix it.

Just because somebody at Kingston told you it would work doesn't necessarily mean it is so. You should find out if you have high density or low density ram. Low density ram is more compatible.
