How do i get to islands 8 and 9 in leaf green and what are the nintendo events?

Nintendo Events are actually the way to get to the islands. They're events
organised by Nintendo where there are giveaways. For instance, they may
give you a Mystic Ticket, which will allow you to take a ship to the eighth
island. Certain websites (such as www.pkmn.co.uk) will keep you up to date
on these events.
