Matching Memory

How do I match memory to my processor? My board uses DDR SDRAM. I have the following processor:

AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 2.0Ghz 266FSB

Does it mean I need PC2100 since it is DDR 266? My board accepts up to DDR400. Thanks.

You can run DDR400 with that CPU as it's backward compatible i.e. can run slower.
On an Athlon XP you get best performance by running the CPU & RAM bus speeds at 1:1 "in synch" which is just a BIOS setting (the mobo probably sets it by default).
