Hi, i recenlty just got an Abit AB9 mobo with an E6400,2gb corsair xms2 pc8500 and zalman 9500.

I tried to overclock it the other day, i simply increased the speed from 266 (x 8 ) to 283 mhz and it was unstable, so i inreased the cpu and ram voltages in steps, still was unstable at every try. I thought it may be due to the ram as it is set at 667 mhz. Unfortunately in the bios there seems no option to change the ram speed.

Any ideas would be welcome as to why it wont overclock even a little and if any one else has tried overclocking with an AB9 board.

The standard AB9 isn't generally regarded as 1 of the best overclocking 965 chipset boards (with 1 or 2 notable exceptions in results) but it should be good for ~400fsb.

Which BIOS version are you on?

Ok i have managed to update the BIOs and all is good now.

Currently running my E6400 at 3.2ghz nicely. :D This board isnt that bad aslong as you update bios. Im allowed to go up to 600mhz now also.

Blame the motherboard because your a n00b. Updated bios are released as optimazation is found. Brand new motherboards aren't released with fully mature bios's, common now...
