I tried searching everywhere and can't find how to decode my E6600 to see when it was built. I have heard some weeks were better OC'ers and some weeks were cooler than others. Anyone care to elaborate? The info from my CPU is below

INTEL '05
INTEL CORE 2 DUO
6600 SL 9S8 MALAY
2.40GHZ/4M/1066/06
L639A605

THANKS!!!!!

L639A605:

I think "639" refers to stepping 6, 39th week. Stepping 6 is revision B2. But I am not sure Intel counts the weeks. If it were the 39th of 52 weeks in a year, one would expect to find some L640-L650 CPUs, but I've never seen them.

If you purchased the retail box, the date of packing should be printed near the CPU code.

Thanks. I read somewhere that week 28-32 produced some massive overclocks and something about month/revision A was the best but ran hotter than B. Does this sound correct? Oh and the box says the same thing as the CPU.
