I made a Fiery/Fiery Tanker last week, and I'm really looking
forward to laying smackdown.
However, I am now level 10, with nothing but Clockwork and
Vahzilok missions to do, and Circle of Thorns missions waiting
int he wings. These missions are pure hell. It's worse than
running a low-level Scrapper against stuff with energy attacks
right now.
Right now, I'm seriously considering herding Hazard zone spawns
for the next two levels so I can get Plasma Shield.
Any other suggestions (apart from finding a Regen Scrapper and
offering to carry his jock for him)?
At this point, I'm realizing I'd be a lot happier (for a little
while) if I'd taken Fire Sword instead of Consume. But I
can't afford to slot up the two attacks I *do* have, so it would
be a really bad idea long term.

That is not a bad idea. Missions are kinda overrated for some archetypes,
and this is one of them. Your strenght is the ability to park in a pack of
greens and read the newspaper while they feed you influence and xp. And
above all, defenders love you because you are The Aggro Engine. Team up
with a bubble defender and you can generate a constant stream of xp for
the both of you. I've also successfully teamed my fire/fire tanker with a
dark defender, a storm defener with steamy mist and even a kinetic
(although that required a bit more active playing). Anything that has
bubbles or point-blanc defenses is ideal. Someone has to keep peace in
Perez Park, after all, and then in Boomtown. So far, fire/fire is my
favorite for duoing. You can duo with almost anything that doesn't
scatter villains around.

Great advice! I hunted in Hollows and Perez for about two hours,
and dinged 12. I grabbed Plasma Shield, and a bunch of DOs, and
I feel like a new man. I can take on packs of five or six even
cons now, and prevail.
The only other solo heroes I saw in The Hollows were two Fire
Blasters and four Fire Tankers. I guess we all hit the wall and
around level 8 and 9. If those Fire Blasters had maxed out their
AoE attacks, I can see them needing to hunt greens to level.

I'm not really looking forward to levels 15 and 16, when my DOs
decay, but it shouldn't be as bad as before, and I can finally
run my own missions solo.
