Hello all.

I have multiple PCs that are running windows 98 and need a
way to secure the image. Currently, students are using the
computers and installing various software and pictures. I
need to know how I can prevent students from making any
changes. I have used Deep Freeze on other Win98 PCs and it
works great, but the software price is not feasible for my
client. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks.

You can implement mandatory user profiles. This should give you some control
over users desktops.

See
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/98/all/reskit/en-us/part2/wrkc07.mspx

For a more robust desktop lockdown framework, you should explore upgrading
to Windows 2000 Pro with Active Directory on the backend.

It's a lost cause on Windows 98. If it's causing a problem and costing you
money, you have a business case to upgrade to an OS where users can't do
this stuff.
