Heyas,

I'm having trouble deciding between these two cards. Can anyone tell me if the ACS3 cooling on the KO is really worth it? I have been leaning towards the KO, because this card will be going into an SFF case.

8800 GTS SuperClocked

or

8800 GTS KO ACS3

Thanks!

temps may go down 2 or 3 degrees. I don't think it worths more $60.

I'd be more concerned in fitting the card in the case.

Thanks for the reply. I know it will fit. It's the GTX that I'd be very concerned about.

ITS not just the cooler the acs3 is way FASTER THAN ANY OTHER 8800 CARD

i know that the 320mb gts version is overclocked to a speed of 588 mhz core which is 88mhx faster than stock.

Also the memory and Stream processors are overclocked way beyond a regular 8800 gts.

These are the 640Mb versions.
The acs3 is 580mhz and the oc version is 576mhz. Memory is the same. ACS3 runs 2ºc cooler. 4mhz and less 2ºc for more $60...great buy...

So, what's the point of your reply?

Buy the ACs3 but if only the 320mb version 8)

otherwise i agree with PMR , he has got a good point :)

peace out

Sorry but I have to disagree with you again. The point of the 320Mb of memory is to save money. Why go with a card that costs as much as a the 640Mb version? To be even less future proof? No, thanks.
High priced factory OCed 320Mb 8800GTS are a No Go.

Thanks again. I will most likely go with the Super Clocked version. If ACS3 doesn't make that much a difference then I'd prefer to spend less $!

Should be ordering all the parts this week!

Gr8 choice i own a EVGA super clocked 320mb 8800 gts gr8 card . :)

PMR i agree with what you say , but i could probably argue with you on the future part .

I say future because we don't know how much space the textures will use. Not only in dx10 but also in dx9. And there are a few games where the 320Mb have a heavy negative impact at 1600x1200 like R6:Vegas or GRAW 2, just to name a few. And even if you play at 1280x1024 you may want to upgrade to a larger monitor (future again).

So, if you have the option to choose a 320Mb pre OC and a plain (or not a high factory oc) 640Mb card for the same price (and that you can oc also), what would you buy?

I'm going with the 640MB version, because I'll be gaming on aan LCD with a native resolution of 1650 x 1080 (I think thats the correct res). The 640MB does seem a bit more future prrof for my needs.

Save your cash - , you can overclock your GTS to "Superclocked" frequencies and beyond. (core is stable at 600, memory at 1000).

A little tip: buy a little blower fan, to fit right under the card. The stock cooling system's shroud spills hot air into the case before its blown out of the back.

PMR i am sorry to say this but you are misinformed , there is a considerable price difference between a OC 320 and a standard 640

If you also read the articles on techreport they would give you further insight on this topic.

I am always happy to see another persons view point and like i said earlier i do agree with most of your statements. :) i hope we can both learn from a intelligent discussion rather than a rude argument .

:D

I don't mean a normal OC 320, i meant the ACS3 320Mb version you were talking about and suggesting all the time. It costs the same or even more that a plain GTS 640Mb. That 320Mb is sold from $330 to $360.

So, for $339.99 I´ll go with this 640Mb version

Sorry again, but I´m not misinformed...

This has turned into a pretty interesting discussion. I appreciate all the feedback. I've ordered all the parts and should have a build ready this weekend!

WTF?? And why is that for?
You just run out of reasonable arguments, and you can only come with this?
Maybe someone should tell your mom to get you out of the front of the pc. You are wasting energy and others' patience.
