Dear Everybody, I am a new user on this forum. I really enjoy reading your forum messages here. I rarely use the forums, I do not know why. As a starter I am looking forward to buy a computer off from Newegg.com. I have not built a computer for long time. It will be a good experience for me to get my hands on building a new computer again. I need your help to decide how I am planning to build this computer. If you know a better product, please let me know. I am trying to build an important computer.

I apologize that I am not allowed to post links; these can be found at Neweggs website by searching them up.

Here is a list below; the text highlighted in red shows what I have chosen.

Finally,

My Price to Buy.

Case $110
Motherboard $250
Processor $1220
Power Supply $100
Video Card $1290
Hard Drives $275 ($45 + $2120)
CD-Rom $120 + $20 Extra CD-Rom?
Memory $450($ 225 + $ 225)
Case Fan $20 (10x 2$)
CPU Fan $60 (I wonder if it will fit in my case)

Total: $2025 + Shipping = $2050 approximately. What do you think? I would like anything better and faster and most importantly, reliability and longevity.

What I see here is the processor includes a Heat sink and a Fan in the package. I think I might omit buying the CPU fan and choose case fans instead. I should use the Intel fan that came with the processor. I believe I should bother about getting a water cooling system and memory cooling, hard drive cooling as an upgrade to treat myself for remaining virgin this long! You can’t blame me for my passion on Computers.

May Buddha Bless you, any help will be appreciated. Amitabha.

Well first of all youve got your prices all wrong. A E6600 doesnt cost $1220. Secondly you need to tell us what you want to use your computer for. Also what do you mean you dont care about graphics and only speed? Does that mean you dont play games but want a fast computer? because if it does then you would be better investing in a quad core extreme and a 7600GT.

Also the PSU sucks so change it. Get thermaltake or seasonic. THe evga board is ok but if you dont need sli then perhaps its not worth the price. THeres no need for a $60 fan if your not gonna OC. stock is fine. Also if you want performance then you might wanna invest in better ram than what youve chosen. Again tell us what your gonna use it for first so you can get the best performance for price.

DEAR MONK,

You got the pricing wrong on the cpu and hard drive and the motherboard as well, or maybe you're about to get ripped off big time.

For the case the Mystique is cool.

For the motherboard you got the Evga 680i but get the A1 version, that one on your list is the AR version ( the first one). The A1 version is better for overclocking.

That means you can get the E6400 instead and pair it up with a good cooler like Ultra 120 or Tower 120 and do some overclocking.

OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W psu is a great choice as many have.

As for the video card, the 320Mb 8800GTS is not bad at all. It's around $300 and at 1280x1024 rez it's up with the 640Mb version. So you get good price for performance there.

Good hard drives.

Don't spend too much on CD rom man, the $20 one would be good enough.

Memory, get the Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 for overclocking the E6400. It's around $300.

Cpu fan, get the Silverstone FM121. It's one of the best out there.

There you save bunch of money and a great set up. :)

Sorry for the delay at making a reply, I lost my network adaptor, ha-ha. Sorry for incorrect prices, the html coding on forums are not flexible.

Thank you for all of your help. I really appreciate it. Sorry for not being clear. I am more than a Hardcore Gamer who uses computing for many things such as gaming, programming, graphic designing and running programs that require a lot of sources. That’s all

However I am buying a PC just like that. It can be upgraded and enhanced next year or when the prices drop. Most importantly I want a strong computer that will last 5 years or longer. I do not over clock. I have no interest in over clocking just yet. I believe in reliability, longevity and acceleratory in computers.

I have attached a link to my Microsoft Excel file that shows a very clear list of what to buy. I cannot the list as clear as Microsoft excel on forums. This is a pain.

its hosted on http://www.fileave.com/

overwise, scroll down to read. Its not as clear than the Microsoft Excel. I plan to start buying soon.
