hi

i m using admt v2 to migrate from a windows 2000 domain to windows 2003
domain. i have migrated all the global groups succesfully from 2000 to 2003
domain. now i wanted to move users. when i move a user from win2k to win2k3
domain, it is migrated successfully and group memberships also appear but
user password is not migrated, rather it says that

wrn1:7557 Failed to copy the password for Ikram1. A strong password has been
generated instead. Unable to copy password. The RPC server is unavailable.

I have created password export key on Windows XP machine through ADMT and
then copied it on Win2k DC on source domain, and then ran pwdmig from Win2k3
CD on my Win2k DC server and defined the PES key and it was run fine. Also
through registry i have enabled LSA\AllowPasswordExport key to 1.

I tried to find through Technet and found that that it might be due to name
resolution but DNS and WINS seems working fine and my Windows XP machine
which is running ADMT v2, is able to ping both domain controllers in both
domains. Right now I am running only one DC in each domain. My WinXP running
ADMT is logged into source domain and account has full control on the OU
where I am migrating users and groups.

any help would be appreciated.
