ok guys. it sound's stupid but here goes i bought evga 8800 gts 320 MB superclocked. it's cool awsome card. but i read a article that human eye can't see framerate above 70. i know 8800 gts is a overkill card. so should i have waited and bought 8600 gts or gt and saved money. or should i just kick this idea out of my head and just enough my card.
yeah the article you read is probably correct. however I doubt every game you play is still going to keep you at 60+ fps all the time. In fact, I own that card and the included game (Dark Messiah) actually slows down quite noticeably with AA on and at 1600x1200. If you run a lower res than that you may not see a slow down in current games but probably will in the near future. Besides the 8600 non-ultras are only going to be 128 bit memory interface I believe and that will really slow stuff down if you want any of your games to be played at max detail. I personally like my card and I think you made a great choice buying one.

If you play jurassic games a 6200 will do the job.
But I dare you run Oblivion 4XAA, 16AF, HDR at 1600x1200 an come here to tell me the frame rate.
Or Rainbow Six Vegas at max settings...
Read well the reviews before you start threads like these
thanks jjknoll. i play Dark Messiah too but at 1440x900 beacuase my lcd doesn't support more then that. and it runs at that resolution at max setting. well i am really happy too. this is my first highend card i always used mid range card. will stick with it. i think i got pretty good deal though i got EVGA 8800 gts 320 MB superclocked for 279$ . it's pre overclocked card. GPU core runs at 576 MHz and memory at 1700Mhz.

LOL took the words right out of my mouth. Before I had my SLI'd 8800GTX's I would get around 40fps in the thickest parts of the forest in Oblivion with a single 8800GTX and 4XAA and 16XAF running at 1680X1050.
Now with 2 8800GTX's I run with 16XAA and 16XAF at 1680X1050 and get 60+fps regardless of where I am.
Chill, man I was just playing. the 8800GTS is by no means a waste of money. Although I did find funny that you thought a 8800GTS a waste of money and then you went jumping on the GTX SLI bandwagon :?
Its a waste of money as far as u are paying $$$$ for a dx10 card, when dx10 doesnt yet exist in games.
Having said that... the 8800's ARE the best cards currently on the market, and in demanding games like Oblivion at hi rez it WILL hammer any 8800. It should never drop below 40fps tho. Also spending that kind of money on a card u will want to keep it for awhile, i can promise u games like Crysis will take a huge $h!t on the 8800s.
So expensive yes, but if u run 1600-1900rez and want max settings to be playable, its either an 8800 or 1950 x2
well no man. my lcd moniter supports only 1440x900 so thats the max i can play. and games i have tried with this card run on max with those setting didn't try crysis yet but games will soon come that will even kill 8800 too but then again there will be new cards after 8800
first of all that card is not a waste of money cause i own it . Its Freakin awesome .
You think you wasted your money then return the card you obviously cant afford it and have stretched yourself to far.
Also what games you play, okay let me be honest with you not many people here would tell you this but this card does not effect your gaming if you only play SOLITAIRE okay .
Otherwise i dare you to find a better card for performance vs price . This card rulez
i love it too it is awsome. just got confused with the article i read. as to strech it and can't afford i can. thats why i bought it. as for you silly comments just tells me how smart u are.

Try buying glasses then you wont get confused while actually reading a article and not just looking at the pretty pictures
We buy things not because we can always afford them but because we WANT them .
Anyway man Peace i was just joking , no insults intended unless required
it's cool man. i wanted to buy it because i like eye candy in games but as that article said if your framerate is above 70 u can't see the difference. anyways games will be soon out the kill this card. real test would be the directx 10 games which i heard will even make 8800 cry. what do you think
sure i am enjoying the ride. i bought EVGA card becuase they have 90 stepup program. so i can upgrade to higher end card in that time just by paying the difference. i might go for 8800 gts 640 mb but lot of people said that if your going to play max at 1440x900 320mb is fine.
So tell me something do you work at Nvidia or some gold reserve
But seriously dude that is a dream machine no 2 ways about it .
So how long did it take you to build and like did you already have the money or you planned it over some time .
Just wanna know cause i am already saving for my dream machine , which i am going to building in 2008 . long way off i know but i should have enough money by then Kaching .
Also one more question what make of ram do you have and processor monitor .
Thank you , i am definitely a fan of your machine 8)
mmmm nice setup :-) I recently bought the 7900GTO...awesome card..while running oblivion, I rarely get below 10 FPS! such a huge performance! However, I see there are even better cards..a bit :-) *jokingly*
I'm kind of surprised that noone told you this yet but...
The refresh rate of your computer and your eye are two slightly different things.
First off if your computer is running a game at a steady 28 fps you WILL notice lag.
You'll simply notice that your commands aren't being reflected in the game fast enough.
Also your eye can tell fluctuations in FPS like going from 40 to 50 and then down to 30.
This is what your trying to get rid of. Anything over 60 though and your eyes can't tell.
