its an intel licensed tech. Your long awaited monopoly seems as if its closing in.Lets hope IBM realizes what it means and bolsters amd.
Intel was pushing to revoke the license not long ago with via.More monopolistic actions. But its not a dual core.
Intel is very afraid of AMD ,every step they take says they fear AMD's liklihood of taking more market. Now they desperately seek to choke AMD with license partners. There should be no doubt that Intel is petty.
I am hoping it backfires and causes more intel downsizing.AMD is a good chipmaker.with a few blemishes as of late.I hope k10 is a banging chip and 45nm is even more lethal for AMD.And they shove this price war so far up intels azz their eyes squirt blue tears.
AMD has opened its sockets.... the VIA GABRIEL dual core will use the AM2 socket... thus getting around INTEL's Iron Grip.
I think Nvidia should shap up VIA...get rid of there horrible chipset division and get its own x86 core out the door.
According to this article, VIA is doomed. VIA is only restructuring and re-vamping their chipsetsm nothing really special(nothing like Netburst to Core Revolution), This is going to really squeeze funds that VIA had left, thus not allowing them to R&D anything new and major, thus have no funds to develop brand new technology or even a glued-together Dual Core solution. VIA and ATI are almost in the exact same positions, but Intel has VIA by the balls until Next season and VIA does'nt have any big companies or financial supporters to back it up like AMD/ATI does(IBM), after that VIA is slated to be taking a tumble into Obscurity and eventual bankruptcy due to lack of funds and lack of customers because Intel and AMD are providing better solutions for ultra-low voltage CPU's.
Unless AMD/IBM and Sun agree to help VIA out and form a triumvirate against the King(Intel / Julius Cesar) Shakespeare truly lives if this happens. Most of the former Intel Chip setters take to one side and launch an Attack again Intel, we all know that SIS won't join in because they are too Pu**y to join a side, and risk losing any money still have trickling in.

VIA is not managing to make decent mobo chipsets and you talk about CPUs that should compete with Intel and AMD; you'd better stop putting yourself in this position:
AMD's claims of +30% over Conroe and Intel's drastic price drops when Barcelona hits tell a different story; with Penryn's slight modifications and frequency ramping, they will hopefully go head to head with Barcelona. And stop thinking AMD will go bankrupt; they've been bleeding much more than this.
I seriously doubt VIA would try to compete with the likes of Intel or AMD. No offense, but Intel has VIA but the cajones with their license right now. Unless you have some evidence to back up the fact that VIA rises then I wouldn't really post a theory. No offense, but VIA has faced many downsizing problems as it is, and with Intel and their license, their kind up a creek without a paddle.
