My comp keeps giving me the BSOD and I have no idea what is causing it. I've just run Memtest-86 and there were no errors with my memory so the next thing I want to check is my HDD.

Can anyone recomend anything for this?

Thanks, CC

Use the manufacturer's hard disk diagnostics.
You can also run a SMART test using Hitachi's hard drive fitness test.
If it fails the SMART test, RMA the drive.

http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm is a good place to look in reference for BSoD's.

You can also boot up the Windows disk, boot to recovery console and type
chkdsk /r and leave it alone for a while. It will hang out at about 51% for a long time them all of a sudden BAM it's done. It will tell you whether or not it repairs some bad sectors.

Download Knoppix or another Linux LiveCD and load Linux. If it works, then your Windows installation needs repairing.

List your full system specs so that we can determin weather or not it could be do to another hardware issue. One of the most common causes of the BSOD if from a dieing PSU.

erm I doubt that....or at least not from my experience...

Most common situations are OS/Hard drive/Memory but depends on the BSoD

Cheers guys i didnt think i was gonna get any responses. I'm not quite sure about the spec but here goes:

AMD 2400
ECS Mobo (not sure of model)
512 Kingston Memory (i think)
Hitachi 80 GB HDD
Geforce MX 440 AGP8X

Its about 4 yrs old and I didnt buy it so this is all I have been able to gather.

I get BSOD every few minutes and the message varies so maybe it is completely F******.
