Hi

Hope someone can help me with this question as i am in a
bad situation.

I have just upgraded my computer form Windows 98 to
Windows 2000. I installed everything correctly and it was
working fine last night.

However when i tried to boot my system up this morning the
following message appeared

Verifying DMI Data Pool

NTLDR is missing

Press an key to restart

I press a key and then message is displayed again.

How do i get past this as i cannot access Windows, the
computer will not go no further than this stage.

I would appreciate as much help as possible

Thank You
James

Have you checked your floppy drive. This is the error message you'll get if
you try to boot from a disk formatted on NT/2000/XP/2003.

OK, so it looks like there's something wrong with the boot environment. I
just mentioned the floppy thing because it's a common cause of that error
message.

There's a knowledge-base article that describes how to troubleshoot your
problem.

HOW TO: Troubleshoot the "NTLDR Is Missing" Error Message in Windows 2000

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318728

I would skip the bit about the BIOS, as you could make things worse. Jump
straight to the "Use a Boot Disk..." section. You might need to do some
fiddling with the boot.ini file on the floppy, especially if you've
installed Windows to a second partition or a second hard disk.

Hope this helps

Oli
