My hardware meant for overclocking, but where to even start?

Hi, I'd like to learn about overclocking.

So I know I have some pretty decent (but old - computer built March 2005) gaming hardware, but I sense that I haven't even put it to its full potential. For someone who doesn't know the implications of "overclocking" where would one even start to learn? What hardware items can be overclocked? I basically only know that certain pieces can have their settings changed (somewhere?) to make them go faster. Any help is appreciated. Below are some pieces in my computer. I am on Windows XP Professional.

Motherboard:
Asus A8V-E Deluxe

Memory: (just bought another gig, will soon have 2 gig total)
Corsair
TWINX
CMX512-3200C2
XMS 3200 512MB 400 MHz CL2

XMS3202v5.1
0502010-5

Processor:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.80 GHz

Video Card:
GeForce 6600
PCI Express x16
128 MB

I'd start with reading some guides on overclockign the Athlon 64.

Here's a google search for "overclocking amd athlon64".

Get the grips with the way it works and then read some reviews on your hardware. Follow the advice in the sites!

But let us know how you get on?

PM me for more info if you like

Edit:>

Damn, that search link sucked. Sorry, heres a couple of sites you might try:

We'll see. I will probably spend the next few weeks reading before I do anything. I don't have enough technical knowledge to even guess how much extra power can be had from O/C.

what are you looking to achieve?

if you're after faster encoding times, then you want to up your cpu speed?

better gaming experience? possibly oc your memory? or drop their timings?

good plan to read on, and make a decision.
