I just ordered some parts for a new system, the build follows. I plan on a 3 drive raid 5 [mb has raid I think].

My question is I have never over clocked before, how would I do it on this board, and what are the settings? Are there any step-by-steps already written? I see some people feel the unit can do close to 3gh and still have manageable internal temps. Is the case good enough cooling or do I need extra fans, and a premium CPU cooler?

Thanks guys!.

You can probably have the goal of reaching a 1:1 ratio with the memory speed and you'll need to reach 3.2 ghz.

Here's the settings to reach 3.2 ghz:
FSB: 266 (default) --> 400
CPU Multiplier: 6-8 (8 default) --> set to 8 (400x8=3.2ghz)
Memory Multiplier: 3 (default for DDR800) --> set to 2 (400*2=800)
If you set this to 3 your memory speed will be (400*3=1200). I believe you won't reach this stable speed.

Ok so you have your target. The question is how will you reach this stable setup? In your case, you have the 650i chipset. I'm not very familiar with this chipset but you need a little tweaking to reach this. Please read the OC guide in this site.

Btw, i just started overlocking also a few weeks ago. It was easy using Gigabyte 965P-DS3. This board owns.

You will most certainly need a CPU cooler upgrade to get over 3.0ghz. The stock cooler made not even allow you to OC above 2.6 safely.
