More Information

I am seeing crazy temps reported from the EVGA 680i MB's BIOS ->System Monitor using a E6600 CPU using the stock Intel cooler that came with it. Temps reported are negative Celsius and range from -122 to -77. I'm using and EVGA 680i motherboard the new A1 successor to AR model.

I installed TAT and it shows CPU0 at 43C idle and a Frequency of 2400. It reports CPU1 at --C and Frequency at 2399. It is not reading the temperature of the second core.

Also, for CPU0 it shows C STATE of C0/C1. For CPU1 it shows C STATE as --.

Am I correct in my conclusion that the CPU is defective? Should I try the CPU in a different motherboard or am I wasting my time?

Power supply is Enermax 850 watt
2 GB of Corsair 8500C5D memory

Have you checked EVGA's Forum for information concerning this problem? If you have another motherboard available, then by all means, try the CPU in it. Have you tried Core Temp or SpeedFan 4.32?

Since the thermal tables are stored in BIOS, try flashing to the latest release, and if you've already done so, newer isn't always better, so try flashing back to a release prior to your original.

Hope this helps,
