Ok i have been wondering about this for a while but haven't been able to find a clear answer. Maybe i just didn't look hard enough or don't know where to look.
Is it possible to use an ATI GPU such as X1950XTX on an SLI ready nForce motherboard such as an Asus P5N32-E-SLI.
Also is it possible to do the opposite, run an nVidia GPU on a Crossfire ready motherboard.
To my understanding they it works but the motherboard is pre-configured to set up for SLI or Crossfire without extra driver installations.
Ati cards will work fine on SLI motherboards, and Nvidia cards will work fine on Crossfire motherboards.
THe problem is, you can't run TWO Nvidia cards on a crossfire motherboard in SLI.
Also, you can't run TWO Ati cards on an SLI mobo in Crossfire configuration... you dig?
What i think he is trying to say is that you can put them in and work but it wouldn't be REAL SLI/CF. Probably have to find some hacked drivers to get them to work anyhow.
BUT dual card solutions will not work unless it's a certified mobo.
You can't use SLI on a crossfire mobo, and you can't use Crossfire on an SLI mobo...
