After entering the username and password the client
installation wizard displays the following error:

Could not generate a unique name for this computer.
The server could not generate a unique name for this
computer.
Please comtact your network administrator for further
assistance.
Administrators should check the remote installation
services settings to ensure the computer naming option is
set correctly. This error may also indicate the computer
naming policy used to create a unique computer name has
reached its maximum number of combinations.

The error log on the server indicates this error:

Event type: Error
Event Source: BINLSVC
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1042
Date:
Time:
User: N/A
Computer: Server
Description: An error was generated by OS Chooser. The
error code is in the record data.
Data:
0000: 25 4e 00 00

I think I just need to reset the names the RIS server
assigns. How can I fix this?

Well you have a few choices:
1) visit the "remote" tab on your RIS server (Users & Computers>Properties)
and change the way your naming convention works (you may have entered
something invalid).
2) use custom installation screens and enter your own names at RIS time.
see my site for changing the custom screens and the ability to use custom
setup is a a group policy.

If it is just one machine that is problematic you may need to update the PXE
rom on the nic or delete an existing computer account that has the same
guid. If you find that is the problem delete the dns host record for that
machine also.
