I found plenty of documentation on moving NT domains to 2000 or 2003,
but not much on reorganization of 2000/2003 domains.

We have two domain trees one is <mycompany>.com (root domain) and the
other is <mycompany>.co.uk. Soon we will be consolidating both domains
in the UK. I would LIKE to be able to move both the .com domain to
co.uk ,but think it is impossible because .com is the root domain.
Can someone confirm this?

What is the BEST and EASIEST way to consolidate is??

One option is doing a domain rename once all of DCs are running
Windows 2003 server and all mailboxes are moved to Ex2003. The
question here is can we rename a domain to a domain already in use?
For instance, can I rename the co.uk domain to .com AND basically
merge the AD info together? It seems pretty far fetched to me...but
wouldn't mind this for my dream solution ; )

The second option is to move all the contents of one domain in to the
other using ADMT resource kit tool and then decommission it. It
sounds to me like this one could get pretty ugly.

I would appreciate any insight on the prob...

Thanks a bunch,
Ash

Hi Ash,

Your best option is probably going to be using ADMT to move principals
between domains. This is not an ugly process, really.
