Ok, so tomorrow I will probably order my parts for a new pc. They will consist of ..
e6300
x1950xt 256mb
2x1gb supertalent ddr2-667
gigabyte ds3- revision 3.3 (will it work with the upcoming intel cpu's?)
NZXT Apollo Case
Seagate 250gb 7200.10 Sata 3.0
A toolkit
An anti-static wrist strap
And peripherals...

The thing thaT I am confused about is whether I should wait for the new intel cpu's or just buy now. I don't Need the computer REALLY badly, I can probably wait a month or two (no more than that). But if the mobo supprts the new cpu's, then i wont wait. And no I dont need dx10, because I can't use it anyway with xp (I hate vista). So any tips on the build or how to build it will be appreciated.

How much are u going to pay for that x1950xt? Because you got some 8800GTS 320Mb at el-cheapo

EDIT - I see now that there are X1950XTs at $200, so forget what I said.

Do you plan on overclocking?

The new Intel CPU's will have a FSB of 1333. If they work with that ds3, they will not be used to their full potential.

Get the ASUS P5N-E instead. It supports FSB of 1333.

If you plan on oc'ing, go with DDRII 800.

But if you can wait a month, prices are going to be dropping and with budget DX10 cards coming out, this will cause ATI's offering's to drop more.

Ok, here is the truth on buying any system..

If you are ready NOW, then buy now..

If you keep waiting on price cuts, you'll always be waiting to buy a system.

If you are happy with what you are wanting to buy, then buy it.

Though, honestly, if going with an Intel chip, best to look at boards that will suppor the new FSB, if not, you'll kick yourself for not at least doing that.

Chip prices will continue to fall, so will Video Card prices, if you keep waiting for a price cut before you buy, you'll never buy. Just the way it is.

Agree 100% with scuba,

With computers there will always be new advancements just around the corner, which make current item prices fall.

But if you play the "waiting for the next big thing" game you will be waiting all your life. You just have to decide when it's a good time that you need a new system. IE you can no longer play games well.

Waiting is a big issue. I am waiting too and I will try and get one more year out of a P4 3.0 and X800XL machine. (I even have a P4 2.4 and TI4400 still running). I cant see buying or building a non-C2d, non-Vista machine atm. But MS scares the S!ht out of me everytime the lauch a new OS. When a C2D rig with 8XXX or X19XX GPU can run trouble free on Vista SP2, then I will buy. About the time Vista SP2 arrives (2008), I think there will be many good buys for MB's, CPU's, GPU's and etc.

I think I will wait. Im not really gaming much anymore, partly because I can't run half of the good games on a p4 2.66 and fx5500 pci and partly because I dont have many good games. I can feel windows dying out on me, i mean my registry is basically shot in the heart, and anything registry mechanic does kills my pc. Another question, anyone know about the new 650i mobos with sli? Will they match the performance of the ds3? Im looking at the msi one specifically for about $115.

Another good reason to wait:

E6750 2.66 GHz 4MB 1333 MHz $183 (3rd Q, 2007)

So, towards the end of the year you can have top model 1333 FSB C2d, Vista with half the bugs dead, and a X1950 for 8800 XXX, all for a reasonable $1000.
